Year of Jubilee

My dad turned fifty this week. So now we call him Old Man. Or sometimes Methuselah. He doesn't seem that old, even though he says he feels like it.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration at our house. Amazing balloons courtesy of sis-in-law, as well as some lollipops that said, "50 sucks." Good one.

Mom made dinner, and I made a blueberry pie, courtesy of another library-borrowed cookbook, The Pie and Pastry Bible.

I own that book, and I think I'm just a pie retard. I can't get pies to work...yours looks great! Was the pot pie disaster from that book, too? Amazing that you are still making new things this late in the pregnancy! :) Way to go!

Ha! I am totally not a pastry baker in the slightest, and the blueberry pie looked better than it tasted - the blueberry part was great...the crust, not so much. The pot pie was my mom's recipe in store bought crust. But that book is inspiring. Have you made much from it?
